Some ways to use Peppermint Oil:
-To soothe an upset stomach, put a drop under the tongue or mix one drop in a glass of cool water and drink.
-For nausea that accompanies pregnancy, diffuse into air, inhale from bottle or apply 1-3 drops on ears, along jaw bone and on the reflex points of the feet.
-For indigestion, heartburn, diarrhea or gas, put a drop under the tongue or mix one drop in a glass of cool water and drink. You can also drink the peppermint infused water throughout the day if you have a tendency for any of these ailments.
-For drowsiness, diffuse into air or put a drop on hands, rub them together, inhale and then rub on neck, shoulders, temples and clothing. Also, rub a drop on the bottoms of the feet. On a recent 9-hour car trip, I experienced drowsiness and used peppermint oil topically in this way. However, for me, putting a drop in my water bottle and sipping it helped the most.
-For motion sickness, put a drop under the tongue or put 3-4 drops each of peppermint oil and ginger oil in a gel cap and ingest 30 minutes before activity.
-To freshen breath, put a drop of oil on tongue.
-To calm in times of stress or tension, apply a couple of drops to the back of the neck, or wherever the tension is felt.
-For headaches, apply to temples, back of neck and even into the scalp area if the pain is felt there.
-As a fever reducer, rub a drop or two down the length of the spine. The fever should drop a degree or two within five to ten minutes. (My belief is that a fever is the body's way of fighting off illness and because I don’t want to interfere with the body’s defense system, I don't treat a fever unless it is 102 degrees or above). For a child, be sure to rub coconut oil, olive oil or almond oil down the spine prior to applying the oil.
For colic, add 1-2 drops of peppermint oil to 2 tablespoons of olive oil, coconut oil or almond oil and gently rub on tummy and back.
For a refreshing beverage in the summertime, try a drop of peppermint oil in ice water.
During hot weather or for hot flashes, peppermint oil can be applied topically for a cooling benefit. This summer I put a drop or two in a spray bottle to mist on face and body. So refreshing!
For tired, sore muscles, rub peppermint oil that has been diluted with a carrier oil onto area.
When layering oils topically, peppermint oil is also layered on top of other essential oils because it helps to drive the oils in.
For hiccups, put 2 Tablespoons of room temperature water in a small cup and add three drops of doterra peppermint oil and stir it around. I know there are lots of home remedies for hiccups but I have never found one that works. The other day however, I had the chance to, yet again, try out the wonders of doterra essential oils. My husband had a bad case of hiccups. He was upstairs recuperating from a medical procedure and called down to me to see if there was an oil to help. I handed my concoction to him, he hiccuped and then swallowed all of the mixture. Voila! Not another hiccup! He was impressed at how instantaneous the results were! He did complain that the mixture was very strong (I had put five drops of peppermint in the two Tablespoons of water). If using this remedy for children, I would use less oil. Awesome result!

An excellent remedy for fatigue is to apply coconut oil along the spine followed by layering a few drops of several oils beginning with Oregano, then Thyme, Citrus Bliss, Wild Orange, Frankincense, Rosemary, Elevation and Aroma Touch and finally, Peppermint.
